Frequently Asked Questions
Carrier liability under regimes such as CMR or applicable maritime conventions is subject to legal limits and exclusions and does not automatically equal the full commercial value of the goods. Additional cargo insurance can provide broader protection up to the insured value, subject to the policy terms, exclusions and deductible.
Institute Cargo Clauses A provides broad 'all risks' cover subject to policy exclusions. Clauses B and C provide more limited named-peril cover. The exact scope should always be checked in the insurance policy and chosen according to the cargo and route.
Demurrage, Detention and Storage are charges that can arise when containers remain at terminals or outside the terminal beyond the agreed free time. Careful planning of ETA, customs clearance, collection and empty-container return helps reduce the risk of these costs.
There is no single fixed rate. The premium depends on cargo value, commodity, route, transport mode, packaging, loss history and the scope of cover. We request a quotation for the specific shipment rather than applying a universal percentage.
