When goods need to be delivered door to door, road freight is an essential part of the transport chain. It offers advantages that other modes cannot provide on their own: flexibility, speed and greater control over collection and final delivery.
Our road-freight services can be easily integrated with sea-logistics operations. This means we can combine them with port operations, container haulage or 3PL logistics solutions near the Port of Klaipėda.
What is road freight?
Road freight is used to deliver cargo by domestic or international road to specific addresses. Depending on the cargo, transport can be arranged using trucks with tail lifts, tractor units with curtainside or box semi-trailers, platforms, low-loaders, container chassis and other specialised equipment.
Road transport allows cargo to be collected directly from a factory or warehouse and delivered to a customer, terminal or other destination, often without unnecessary intermediate handling.
Process
1. Enquiry assessment
We collect cargo details, collection and delivery addresses, deadlines and any special transport requirements.
2. FTL or LTL solution selection
Based on cargo quantity and timing, we select FTL or LTL transport and the most suitable route.
3. Cargo collection
At the agreed time, the vehicle arrives at the loading location, the cargo is loaded and the accompanying documents are checked.
4. Transport and monitoring
The cargo moves along the planned route while we monitor progress and communicate important changes.
5. Delivery and unloading
The vehicle reaches the destination, the cargo is unloaded and delivery to the consignee is confirmed.

Advantages
Like every transport mode, road freight has distinctive advantages:

Flexibility
Collection and delivery locations are easy to plan because road transport can reach almost any warehouse, factory or terminal.
Universalumas
From small boxes and pallets to non-standard cargo, a suitable trailer or semi-trailer can be selected for different cargo types.

Fast process
Collection and delivery can often be arranged at short notice compared with many other transport modes.
Excellent integration with port operations
When cargo travels by rail or sea, road freight usually provides the first- and last-mile connection in the delivery chain.
FAQ
FTL is recommended when your cargo fills most or all of a semi-trailer or when dedicated transport is required because of urgency, route or cargo-security considerations. FTL normally travels directly without terminal transshipment, with European transit often around 1–5 working days depending on the route. LTL is suitable for smaller shipments, such as a few pallets, when you want to optimise cost by sharing transport capacity with other shippers. LTL transit is usually slightly longer, often around 2–7 working days, because of terminal consolidation and distribution.
Usually yes. Because an LTL shipment does not fill the entire vehicle, shipments from different shippers are collected and may be routed through regional consolidation terminals. There your cargo is combined with other customers' goods for the main transport leg. At the destination region it may be separated again and delivered to the final consignee.
Our road-freight services can be combined with sea-logistics processes. We arrange local container haulage between the Port of Klaipėda, terminals, warehouses in Lithuania and final consignees, or in the reverse direction. These movements can also be integrated with customs services and 3PL logistics solutions near the port.
Road transport provides direct access to factories, warehouses and final addresses. Even when most of the journey is by vessel or train, a truck is commonly required to collect the cargo at origin and bring it to the first terminal, and later to move it from the destination port or rail terminal to the consignee's warehouse.
