Underwater Inspection of “CFL YUKON” Rudder Blade

Project overview

Work in the shipping sector often requires a rapid response to unexpected technical situations. One such assignment was the urgent organisation at the Port of Klaipėda of an underwater rudder inspection for CFL YUKON.

TLC’s ship-chartering and agency specialists coordinated the entire process – from engaging a suitable partner to organising the work and providing the required documentation.

Despite adverse weather and limited time, the inspection was completed within four hours, allowing the vessel to continue its voyage safely.

Challenge

For a vessel of approximately57,000 tonnes – CFL YUKON required an underwater inspection of the rudder blade.

This type of assignment requires specialised underwater work, rapid mobilisation of partners and precise coordination. Adverse weather and the limited time available to complete the inspection and prepare the required documentation added to the challenge.

Our solution

The TLC team quickly coordinated the underwater inspection and engaged the specialist partner Narų servisas.

Work was coordinated between the vessel, dive team and other participants, ensuring that the inspection was completed as quickly as possible and that the results and required documents were immediately provided to the responsible parties.

Safety, prompt communication and minimising vessel delay in port were priorities throughout.

Result

The underwater rudder-blade inspection was successfully completed in just four hours. The required documentation was then provided without delay, allowing the vessel to continue its voyage safely.

The project showed that ship-agency services extend far beyond a standard port call – an important part of the role is the ability to find a reliable solution quickly even in an unexpected technical situation.
