Project overview
The TLC team took part in a non-standard vessel operation in the Port of Klaipėda, where grain loading and vessel reberthing were carried out as parts of one process.
The vessel operation began Malkų Bay Terminal, where grain loading was carried out. In the middle of the operation, the vessel had to be reberthed to a berth at Klaipėda Container Terminal.
This assignment was also unusual for our freight forwarders, who normally coordinate vessel operations from shore or monitor them remotely. This time, they were able to observe part of the process directly on board.

Challenge
Reberthing a vessel while cargo operations are in progress requires precise coordination between all participants.
It is important not only to ensure smooth vessel movement between berths, but also to coordinate terminal operations, the progress of cargo handling and information between all parties involved.
Our solution
TLC freight forwarders took part in the operation and followed the entire process from grain loading at Malkų Bay Terminal to the vessel’s reberthing at Klaipėda Container Terminal. Direct participation provided a better understanding of the practical aspects of vessel movement, terminal work and cargo-operation coordination, while giving the team additional experience in managing non-standard port operations.
Result
The loading and reberthing process was completed smoothly, and the TLC team gained additional practical experience by participating directly in the vessel operation.
Situations like this strengthen specialist competence, provide a better understanding of real port processes and help us coordinate similar operations even more precisely in the future.
Key project aspects
The vessel operation began at Malkų Bay Terminal, where grain loading was carried out.
In the middle of the cargo-handling process, the vessel had to be reberthed to a berth at Klaipėda Container Terminal.
This operation was unusual for TLC's freight forwarders because the process had to be observed and coordinated not only from shore but also directly on board.
Direct participation in a non-standard port operation helped the team better understand vessel movement, cargo handling and terminal coordination processes.
Coordination of vessel operations in the Port of Klaipėda
Vessel servicing in port can include not only cargo operations, but also coordination of vessel movements between berths, terminal activities and the actions of different partners.
TLC specialists take part in organising vessel and cargo operations in the Port of Klaipėda, and practical experience allows the team to respond flexibly to non-standard situations.
